Shields Health Solutions (ShieldsRx), the premier specialty pharmacy accelerator in the country, announced today that Lillian Piz, Manager of Population Health at ShieldsRx, will present a poster on the effectiveness of its pharmacy liaison-managed diabetes care model at the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) Annual Meeting.

The AACE Annual Meeting features state-of-the-art lectures, advanced learning experiences, engaging sessions, expert panel discussions and abstracts for experts from the field of endocrinology to convene and collaborate. It attracts a range of medical professionals from clinical endocrinology that includes endocrinologists, cardiologists, nephrologists, gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, medical students, residents and fellows in training.

“ShieldsRx is excited to present the results of how our integrated model, which we’ve deployed in partnership with Baystate Health, can improve medication adherence for patients with diabetes,” said Bill McElnea, Vice President of Population Health at ShieldsRx. “Diabetes is a complex disease and can be very challenging to navigate. But through the support of an integrated care model, our data show we can reduce the time to therapy, secure financial assistance when it’s needed and help patients improve their blood sugar control.”

ShieldsRx’s integrated care model focuses on access to better care for more patients. It has a dedicated team of specialty pharmacy experts, a proven collaborative care model with pharmacists, pharmacy liaisons and patient advocates, and integrated care technologies. The poster will share successful results from October 2020 to September 2021 for two clinics at Baystate Health that adopted the pharmacy liaison-managed diabetes care model and serves as an example for other health systems on how to simplify care and improve health outcomes for patients with diabetes .

ShieldsRx is also attending the American Diabetes Association’s 36 th Annual Clinical Conference on May 26-29 to share and gather more information on advances in diabetes care. The AACE Annual Meeting takes place from May 12-14 in San Diego and the poster presentation is scheduled for Saturday, May 14 at 10:10 am PT. For more information, please visit
