March marks Women’s History Month — a time to honor the contributions of women throughout history and today. This month, CVS Health is recognizing these contributions and its extraordinary female colleagues who bring unique ideas, experiences, and voices to help make a positive impact on all of the communities it serves.

“We’re passionate about the work we’ve done — and continue to do — to ensure equitable access to growth and development for women in the workforce and in service to the consumers we serve and our communities,” said David Casey, Senior Vice President and Chief Diversity Officer, CVS Health.

A leader among Fortune 100 companies with female executive leadership representation — Chief Executive Officer; Chief Customer Officer and Co-president CVS Pharmacy; and Chief People Officer—CVS Health’s dedication to gender equality permeates throughout the company. Representation of female-identifying colleagues at every level of the company continues to progress. As of 2021, nearly 40% of the company’s VP’s and above, as well as just over half of managers, are women. Additionally, 80% of CVS Health’s 8,100 apprenticeship program participants in 2021 were women.

The company also continues to employ targeted development programs for female colleagues, including Strategies for Success — Multicultural Women an initiative which seeks to equip participants with some of the critical skills and tools needed for career advancement.

CVS Health’s Network for Executive Women and the Women Inspiring Success and Excellence (WISE) colleague resource group are also a core component of how we foster a culture of inclusion where all differences and similarities are celebrated.

The company’s commitment to gender equity is also reflected in its Supplier Diversity Program through which CVS Health sources products from diverse, women-owned, and small businesses. In 2020, CVS Health’s Supplier Diversity Program drove a total economic impact of $6.3 billion and supported more than 46,000 jobs across the country. In 2021, the company worked with more than 1,300 women-owned businesses across the enterprise.

Additionally, CVS Health continues to address the unique health challenges women face at each stage of their life by making health care more convenient, affordable, and personalized. The company does this in a number of ways, including by offering essential women’s health services through 1,200 MinuteClinic locations. CVS Health also continues to focus on enhancing the maternal health journey by delivering programs to address severe maternal morbidity, closing care gaps including recommended vaccinations, and empowering women in their prenatal journey through education and care manager support.

CVS Health also collaborates with like-minded organizations and invests in community-based programs to increase access to high-quality care for all women. Most recently, as part of the company’s commitment to addressing maternal health disparities, CVS Health announced an investment to support initiatives led by America’s Essential Hospitals, Every Mother Counts and the National Association of Free & Charitable Clinics.
